Welcome to the Collaborative Working Champions network

The Collaborative Working Champions network, founded by Constructing Excellence, is a place for people interested in working more efficiently in the architecture, engineering, construction and facilities management (FM) sectors. Building on lessons learned from real projects undertaken using approaches based on integrated collaborative working, the network is aimed to help you play your part in creating a better, more sustainable built environment - from planning and design through construction to occupation and management of buildings, infrastructure, etc.

Use the forum to ask questions of the whole network. Use Groups to discuss specific themes (why not start a group, invite friends and share your ideas?). Publicise events on collaborative working themes, write your own blog post about something that might interest others, or share a download (more website help here).

And finally we heard from the Infrastructure Clients Group about the success…

Champions Meet in Nottingham

Thanks to Alan Coole and Scape for hosting us today and talking about their current collaborative frameworks, which account for some 10% of public sector building project spend, and the ongoing additions of infrastructure and FM frameworks.

We had a very interesting discussion on the application of NEC3, what has made it so popular and whether or not it is really being applied to full effect. We also talked about some of the pitfalls which lead to people being polarised in their views…

Update on Construction Strategy;New Models

Did you know the new models of construction procurement were approved in July this year?  2SOB (2 stage open book) and CLP (Cost Lead Procurement) both have a number of trials running; although despite having a focus on key collaborative pre-requisites open book and earlier involvement, arguably neither are fundamentally new.  IPI on the other hand has both tried and tested collaborative credentials and some radically new features most notably cost overrun insurance.

I know this…

Collaboration - Anonymous anecdotes

Champions Anonymous Anecdotes

The CW Champions have been collecting anecdotes of examples of things apparently done in the name of Collaboration that miss the mark or examples of opportunities simply missed.

You may have examples of your own to…
